As summer hits India, power demand is rising again leading to fears of shortages and blackouts. On 18 April 2023, demand hit this year’s high of 216 GW and crossed last year’s peak demand. Over the next two months, peak demand is expected to touch an all-time high of 229 GW, up 8% over last year. The government is going all out to avert a power crunch.
