India PV Module Intelligence Brief | Q3 2022


This report captures quarterly trends in module demand and supply, import and domestic production volumes, supplier market shares, break-up by technology and rating, pricing trends across the value chain and key international developments.

Total module demand during the quarter was estimated at 4,279 MWp, split 51:28:14:7 amongst utility scale, open access, rooftop solar and off grid solar at 2,200 MWp, 1,196 MWp, 582 MWp and 301 MWp respectively. Project execution is being delayed in view of persistently high module prices. There is also uncertainty about BCD relief for projects auctioned before March 2022. Q3 saw slightly higher module imports at 483 MWp (144 MWp in Q2) while cell imports stood at 1,311 MWp (up 73% QOQ). Domestic module production was also up by 16% at 1,720 MWp.
