Transmission planning, implementation and status

Transmission remains a critical bottleneck to growth of India’s renewable power sector. Poor coordination and planning of transmission network has often led to delay and, in some cases cancellation, of renewable power projects. The central government has undertaken several policy measures and schemes to address transmission related challenges faced by renewable project developers. But more work remains to be done particularly on intra-state transmission side. The Green Energy Corridor and Renewable Energy Zone schemes have been designed to create evacuation infrastructure for 106.5 GW of renewable power capacity.
